As podcasting continues to grow in popularity, more nurses have expanded their blogs to include this platform. Podcasts can be more convenient than traditional blogs for many content consumers. You can listen to podcasts while commuting, exercising, and working. It is no wonder that everyone is jumping on the podcasting wagon, and listeners of podcasts are growing in number. Here’s a roundup of a few great nurse podcasts that cover topics that are pertinent to nursing and healthcare:

1. Nursing Show with Jamie Davis RN, EMT-P, B.A., A.S.

Jamie is a nurse and paramedic who speaks all over the country on healthcare, technology, and education. He is also the director of the ProMed Network which includes a collection of popular medical podcasts. The Nursing Show offers information on a variety of topics such as up to date nursing news, and commentary from nurses of all educational levels. He also has traditional blog posts on the Nursing Show website. It is frequently updated with fresh content that would appeal to a variety of health professionals.

2. The Nurse Practitioner Show Podcast™ with Dr. Rachel Silva, DNP, APRN, NP-C, FNP-BC, RNC-OB, C-EFM

Dr. Rachel is a family nurse practitioner with a variety of nursing experience in her 20 year career. The Nurse Practitioner Show Podcast™ covers topics that are of interest to nurse practitioners as well nurses in a variety of specialties.  Her show focuses on subjects such as advanced nursing practice, health promotion, and disease prevention. Recent podcasts shows of interest included topics like human trafficking and nurse practitioner leadership.

3. RNFM Radio with Kevin Ross RN, BSN and Keith Carlson RN, BSN, NC-BC

Kevin Ross of Innovative Nurse and Keith Carlson of Digital Doorway work as a team to co-host RNFM Radio. The show’s mission is to “challenge and expand the common understanding of what it means to be a nurse.” They interview a HUGE variety of nurses from entrepreneurs to book authors. Past guests include nurse inventor Sarah Mott of The Nurse Born Marketplace and Jennifer Trautmann, FNP Expert on Moral Distress in Nursing.

4. Reiki Radio: An Rx for Self-Care in Healthcare with Elizabeth Scala MSN/MBA, RN

Elizabeth is a speaker, author, and Reiki teacher. She is also hosting her second annual virtual conference the Art of Nursing 2.0- How to Navigate the Shifting Healthcare Environment and Still Enjoy Your Nursing Career. Her podcast is currently on a short hiatus as she diligently prepares for her virtual event during Nurse’s Week. However, be sure to check out her previous fourteen podcast episodes until regular programming resumes. A primary goal of her podcast is to highlight the value of Reiki practice in the Western healthcare setting.
