Georgetown University Nurse Practitioner Programs
Founded in 1789, Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic University in North America. It is a private, Jesuit, research-based university whose main campus is in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It has 180 academic programs in four undergraduate and three graduate and professional schools. Georgetown has around 7,000 undergraduate and over 8,000 post-graduate students. Currently around 900 students are enrolled in the school’s undergraduate, second-degree, and graduate programs.
Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies is a dynamic academic organization dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of all people. Also, throughout the school’s four academic departments, there are 140 faculty members. The school has recently developed its first online degree program, which features the university’s values-based curriculum and professors’ lectures taught through streaming video and various web-based technologies. Students complete the coursework portion of the program online and have the opportunity to complete the clinical portion in or close to their home community. Additionally, the program features “face-to-face” sessions where students meet with their classmates and professors virtually and small class sizes. This program allows students to earn their MSN degree in 17-18 months as a full-time student or in 24-25 months as a part-time student.
Georgetown University Nurse Practitioner Degrees
- MSN – Family Nurse Practitioner: Nursing at Georgetown integrates online learning with carefully selected clinical experiences in areas close to where students live. This program focuses on providing academic knowledge and clinical skills necessary for health promotion, disease prevention, assessment and management of common, acute, and chronic illnesses.
- MSN – Midwifery & Women’s Health: This program is designed to prepare the graduate student to manage a woman’s normal obstetrical and gynecological needs during her childbearing years, to manage the care of the normal newborn, and to provide primary care to women throughout their lifespan.
